Still there are things I would change, but I can listen front to back and not feel compelled to skip things, even Whodunnit which provides a counterpart for the more serious tracks.
There is still an extra side of material left out which could have possibly made it stronger. They probably made the right decision, keep things tidier. Imo with Padgham in tow they really took some direction from the Peter Gabriel album he and Phil had just worked on. Sparse, spare arrangements with plenty of drum machine effect and wonky, slightly affected vocals.

I still "skip it" when I play the album Also "Another Record" is just o. Otherwise a stellar effort! First album with Hugh Padgham! WingsfanApr 9, Siegmund likes this. Location: New Jersey. Not my favorite, but still essential I prefer the Peter era over the Phil era, but it's one of the best from the Phil era Location: London.

And then it's natural companion Three Sides Live a year later. Like It Or LP is Rutherford at his sloppiest. Another Record is a very weak closer. Overall, the highs are very high.
But the lows were a sobering indication of what was to come. Location: Scottish Borders. I love this album - played it to death when I first bought No Reply At All - Genesis - Abacab (Vinyl it was the first new one that came out after I got into the band back in late thanks to a girl I really liked at school! It's different alright; this and Another Record are my two least favoured songs on this. I went with Dodo as No Reply At All - Genesis - Abacab (Vinyl favourite, but to be honest, it's a close run thing with this and Like It Or Not for me.
I love the sweep of that song, it's an old school number with a real swing in it. I could see any number of crooners doing this one. I know one guy who until recently had around copies of this album. I'm not quite so bad, rather less in fact - only about six copies. Don't know how the poll will end up, but as of now the last four songs between them have got only 2 of the 22 votes cast.
That's a perfect summation, imo. Location: Album) Lorenzo, CA. I was about years old. It's a sentimental favorite. The Rush FanOct 17, Location: NYC. George POct 17, Location: berkeley, ca.
Me and Sarah Jane, which I think is easily one of the bands best tracks ever, of any period. I also really love this album, it still seems quite progressive to me, in fact, realistically progressive, in that it moved the band forward into a really interesting territory; they never did that again though, they just kind of stayed there and spun their wheels. I should quickly add that picking a song on this one is tough, as I don't think of it as a collection of songs, but rather a solid album that I enjoy from start to finish.
Same as "Genesis. Location: Earth. I voted for Keep It Dark but the first 5 songs are all very good. Location: Utah. Location: Maryland. I enjoy this album, for a late Genesis album.
This marks the point where Genesis became all about the Phil Collins sound - hard to distinguish from his solo stuff.
