My copy plays relatively well, and most of the static disappeared after using an antistatic brush. It's quiet enough that it's enjoyable.
Other than that the pressing has good sound quality, and it's a fun item to own. The quality of the photographs is really high compared to older versions. My copy LP arrive in perfect condition. I kind of regret the purchase and wish I had purchased a proper black vinyl copy instead. The audio quality is identical to the edition, but expect more noise on the quiet sections, notably on the "Space Oddity" intro.
The color and clarity of the photos used is very good. Sold at Zia Records, Chandler. Have: Want: Avg Rating: 4. Add to List. Unwashed And Somewhat Slightly Dazed.

So here it goes: What if 'Space Oddity' was the mega hit it should have been on its initial release, and a commercial success? Would David Bowie still have created an avatar in the form of Ziggy Stardust, to spread his message in a way that the audience of that time would find appealing?
While I love very many of the numerous musical treasures David Bowie created throughout his magnificent artistic career, I have a soft spot for this album; it reflects a certain vulnerability and a whole lot of genius.
Rest in peace David Bowie, and thank you for the music. One person found this helpful. Now I have three anniversary editions by David Bowie. The first two that i bought were nice domestic versions of Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane and they both had hardbound book cover sleeves.
Now, the Space Oddity anniversary edition is different. The cover is a double-fold digipak and on the far left panel is an angle cut pocket with the booklet and song sheets and the center and far right panels have the trays to hold the cds 2. The audio on these discs is truly phenominal, even the BBC tracks. There are a few tunes with alternate versions Cygnet Committee - David Bowie - Space Oddity (Vinyl one of which is a rare B side to a single as well as an alternate version of Space Oddity.
Great audio, great tunes and a great artist - who could ask for anything more? I recently listened to the album again after almost 30 years. The song "Cygnet Committee" still gives me goosebumps when it reaches that Bolero-like crescendo and Bowie practically screams "I want to live" over and over. See all reviews from the United States.
Top international reviews. I love its soft feel, atmosphere and there are some good songs here, a mixture of styles and ideas but definitely a south London Dylan being quite acoustic and I feel especially nostalgic whenever I listen to it. A lot of the reviews are mixed up, some for the deluxe 2CD edition sadly deleted and some for this, the EMI reissue with 3 bonus tracks and the reissue cover which I like more than the original.
I love Conversation Piece which should, in my opinion, have been on the original album and for which Bowie re- recorded around the Heathen period.
I am not a big fan of all the larger boxed sets being issued at present Loving the Alien due shortly too expensive and with little added value apart from some interesting takes on previous albums like Never let me Down re-recorded etc and remastered tracks and additional unreleased stuff like the Gouster great! Thank you for your feedback.
Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Have to say there are loads of gems stacked up on this CD I bought it because I was suddenly transported in time by the title "Memory of a free Festival" for 2 reasons as it happens, 1 I had in mind a free concert I went to In Happy Valley In Old Coulsdon Surrey in the late 70's I think not the same one Bowie had in mind amongst others on the day we had Harpers Bizare and they were just as it said on the Tin, no the real memory was Colin Scot singing toons like "My Rain" and "Hey Sandy" Secondly Bowie plays a Rosedale Chord organ as sold at F W Woolworth many moons ago and I actualy had one at some stage and was amazed anyone could actualy get a decent tune out of it.
I think Bowie of this period, was in one of his most crative song writing phrases he was to go on to so much more. I had reviewed 'Space Oddity' before, but in recent weeks, with the return of David Bowie to the recording medium with a new album, have had course to revisit his LP rich and varied and variable! Take the title track itself - seen at the time of its' release as a kind of topical piece inspired by the Apollo moon landing, it is, in fact, a more allegorical record, beautifully produced by Gus Dudgeon, and given a vivid arrangement by Paul Buckmaster.
The mix and orchestration frame Bowie's vocal tellingly, and truly deliver on the ambition of the track, making the whole thing a work of wonder, that sounds as thrilling and dizzying as it did Way Back When. Furthermore, the blissed-out, hippie-fied closer 'Memory Of A Free Festival' now sounds incredibly moving, and not the kind of 'hello skies', hello trees' faux-naive piece that I thought it was forty years ago. Visconti's crisp production invests the acoustic guitars on the ballads with a warm resonance - it's even better on the remastered vinyl edition - and Bowie's voice is quite magnificent throughout.
It's staggering to think that, within a couple of years of this release, Bowie would deliver albums of contrasting brilliance as the aforementioned 'Man Who Sold But 'Space Oddity' is now firmly ensconced as one of my personal favourite Bowie albums, and over four decades hasn't withered it's multi-faceted majesty.
If you've not got it, get it! This was Bowie's slow climber to get to No. The A-Side has quite a colourful picture which looks like an amateurish hand drawn cover with a period picture of Bowie added in.
You certainly will not be buying the single for the super art-work! Lets face it we are buying it for the collection all be it 40 years later! Don't you just love marketing!!! Service was good disc arrived promptly. However the cd was poor, the cover was written on and the disc jumps yes I have tried in other players, and the same issue occurs very disappointing. Not what I was expecting. Load more international reviews. The quality of this version is superior to previous ones, and the people who remastered it did a great job.
You have to have more than a passing interest in Bowie to want the early stuff, but there are some great songs on here, and this version has some intriguing alternate versions, outtakes and rarities.
Magnificent in its way, and the title track remains one of his greatest songs. So good, in fact, that real spacemen have been playing it in Spdace. Sounds very good. Most of the extra material on disc 2 is OK, but I could live without the annoying alternate mix of Memory of a Free Festival. I'll happily play disc 1 soon.
If you don't have any of the previous releases this is the best sounding version to go for. These releases made sense up until a couple of weeks ago. Not sure now tbh what my view on ANY new releases will feel like after the fact? I'm sure when the vaults are eventually uncovered most hardcore fans will be appreciative but I'm not confident about how these will be flogged as artifact, memorial or just profit etc.
Great album. Some very good tracks a coupe of weak ones. Another one for the collection. As with all Bowie stuff this is a well known song which needs no review as such. The format on picture disc just adds to the nostalgia of the song and it is a great addition to any record collection. One of the albums of Bowie's early period and a taste of what was to come. Some beautiful songs and musicanship including the extraordinary song Space Oddity.
An essential item in any Bowie fan's collection. I had this on vynal when it first came out. To finally have it again and to Album) to the great tracks took me back in time. Cyget Committee is a master piece, as is most of the album. For you Bowie fans out there that don't have this in their collection go order it now. Superb Double Sided Picture Disc at a great price. Very Highly Recommended, Cygnet Committee - David Bowie - Space Oddity (Vinyl.
