You're telling me Sure I know you so well? But you just act when you are Back against the wall What is true, what is fake? Everything that you make Or you take, it's plain to see Image wise, you're okay But is there anything Inside of you? Hear me say: [Chorus:] I don't wanna do the things you say I don't wanna play the game you play I just wanna be myself And walk the road without pretending I just wanna live my life, be true So many things there are that I will do When I'm looking back the road At least I can say: I did it my way There you are once again telling Me how the things all should be And that I care far too much about My art, 'cause you know they Will never understand I am me, I cannot be What I'm not, I am real and I feel But you can never stop, you forgot 'Cause no one's gonna tell Me what to do Hear me say: [Chorus] [solo: Tolkki] [Chorus] 3.
We are the keepers of its flame Why we just don't Revolution Renaissance - New Era (CD what it happening? Cause we will be the ones who have to pay Man against another man I see Whole creation fighting endlessly When will we learn to give?
And learn to live? Eden is burning There is no time to play Eden is burning Is there another way? Cause Eden is burning The price is too hard to pay Cause Eden is burning 6.
Would you call that utopia? The drum play sounds both under-produced and uninspired, Revolution Renaissance - New Era (CD. The keyboards are nearly absent which helps the overall more gripping production but which could have added some melodic inspiration in the more conservative tracks. A few songs sound less catchy in their original versions than in the final versions, especially ''I Did It My Way'' doesn't sound as energizing as on what would become Revolution Renaissance's first release.
Still, Stratovarius' forgotten demo versions sound more unique, powerful and inspired than Revolution Renaissance's often soulless compilation with three different singers. If this demo had become a regular Stratovarius studio album it would have appeased many fans who had been disappointed by the chaotic self-titled predecessor and who had been confused by the band's weird publicity stunts including fake line-up changes.
Revolution Renaissance is not only superior to the immediate predecessor but also to the fluffy Element duology and what would turn out to be Stratovarius next effort, the tame Polaris. Revolution Renaissance isn't a masterpiece but it's a good to very good power metal album that actually deserves this genre definition.
It's a gem any Stratovarius fan should be familiar with. Revolution Renaissance - New Era (CD hope this album will be released on a compilation or new edition of a regular Stratovarius album one day so people can hear what could have been done if Timo Tolkki had stayed in the band.
As we know now, it was ultimately the right decision for the band to move on without Tokki who was been through numerous odd ups and downs in the last ten years while Stratovarius slowly reconquered the genre throne since the beginning of the decade.
However, this release shows Revolution Renaissance - New Era (CD wasted potential of a very good power metal album that sadly never really saw the light of day. Thunderstone's Pasi Rantanen contributes vocals to three tracks and with his grittier yet passionate vocal style, he brings a whole new feel to Timo's music. Eden Is Burning gets back to the more trudging and heavy epic, orchestrated Stratovarius style with a chorus that has Pasi sounding Revolution Renaissance - New Era (CD much like Bob Catley on his more recent solo and Magnum albums.
Born Upon The Cross continues with the bigger, "epic" and atmospheric sound with a track that has Heaven And Hell like qualities and brings the listener back to the Tony Martin era of Black Sabbath and in particular, The Headless Cross album. Pasi gives his best vocal performance on this track The remaining 5 tracks all feature Michael Kiske on lead vocals whose amazing range and warm vocal style blends almost perfectly with Timo's song writing.
The use of layered harmonized guitar approximates what would've been keyboard orchestrations helps create a solid melodic heavy metal track that's very similar to some of Michael's solo material,; in particular his Instant Clarity album. Angel is a throwaway, syrupy power ballad that besides the title, has some melodic similarities to Aerosmith's song Angel.
Cheesy lyics and very predictable in it's arrangement, Michael's wonderful and strong voice is the only thing that really saves this track from the "skip" button. Listen carefully and you'll also hear some "stolen" moments from Rainbow's Catch The Rainbow from their debut album.
Last Night On Earth was actually performed a few times by Stratovarius during their last few shows togther but Michael Kiske's voice pushes this track to a much higher level of quality. Thematic, heavy and with a very strong chorus, this is easily one of the best tracks on the album.
