Although it was Stop! Premier moment for me is Ball and Chain, a superb syncopated funk track. Play it in the car, try to stop your head nodding : I'm surprised none of my fellow commenteers seem to have rated it, and it was never released as a single. Of the other singles, Walking Back To Me starts well reminding me of Noosha Foxx, but the chorus fits the verse like her clothes would fit me, and there's something 'plodding' about the whole thing.
Sir David Gilmour is apparently a childhood friend her childhood not his! At Amazons price or any other actually this album is an absolute must, you'll be sorry you didn't get it 20 years ago. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. I bought this album because I love the track "Tea". It's only 40 seconds but the damn song has been in my head and I had to crumble and buy the album. It's excellent. Her range is great, the songs are neither pop nor country nor middle of the road, but timeless soul and blues.
I first had this album on cassette back inbut lost it. Now I have it again on CD, and it all comes rushing back. I love the irresistible angst of the eponymous track "Stop" and the infectiously catchy "Piece of My Luck". Strangely, even the sleeve design hasn't dated- I really love the black dress she wears in the sleeve notes. Also, just for good measure, the lyrics are there too just to help closet singalongaSam fans like me.
One person found this helpful. Is a shame I loved the album when I 1st bought it probably in the 80's Her voice still sounds great but the tracks and Musical backing sound really dated today especially the 'funky' bass and guitar riffs.
Load more international reviews. Bought this album when it first came out but lost it a few years ago in the divorce settlement along with the house. I remembered it being one of the best albums I'd ever owned and on buying it again I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed. Sam Brown has a great voice, terrific vocal range and the album hasn't got one weak track on it. Highly recommended. Now if only I could get the house back. Heard the title track on the radio many times and finally bought the album twenty-seven years after Sam Brown - Stop!
(Vinyl) release. Just bought for Title track but there are a few others worthy of note but mostly very much set in the 80s Only just found out Sam Brown is the daughter of cockneySam Brown - Stop! Some really good tracks scattered amongst the ones you've never heard. A sense of humour, a good voice, one great song, two really good ones, and a couple of smile when you hear them numbers.
One of the best of the Eighties. This is one hell of a going album good listening music. She has one Sam Brown - Stop! (Vinyl) voice. Sam's voice is truly unique, and the timeless 'Stop' is one of my all time favourites.
